What is a Project Based Learning activity? It's not a typical project assigned after instruction. It is the actual instruction itself. In short, PBL's are designed to inspire curiosity, teach students about important concepts based on the Common Core requirements for each grade level, and allows for students to determine the level of complexity of their personal learning. The teacher is no longer the sole owner of knowledge and it is through these projects that students develop their ownership through research, communication, and presentation.
